Speeding and reckless endangerment are real problems that are very hard to avoid when drivers are shuttling point A to point B a zillion times, rash driving gets thrilling and dangerous for others. I was one of the victims. This reminds me of one of key lessons we got from our customer visit to WEG in Brasil.



About WEG

WEG is a large electric company based in Jaragua Do Sul, Santa Catarina in Brazil. It is beautiful small town with friendly people. I think it right say that Jaragua Do Sul is in WEG, everything there is for WEG, from the restaurant to store, from the petrol pumps to taxis everyone offers a special price for WEG employees. It has a large campus that literally stretches to the town. There were numerous vehicles running inside WEG campus to transport materials and people. One stark thing is that majority of the drivers are women!

First, we rushed to the meeting to discuss their ITIL implementations and resolves issues by lunch time again we noticed women driving trucks and sometimes heavy machineries.
In spite of shuttling numerous times, I saw that these drivers observed rules very carefully.


Why So Many Drivers Were Women?

On the way back I got my answers, all the women drivers were responsible mothers driving with their family photos in the dashboard, no one was speeding.
